Summer 2014 was my best ever! I got the opportunity to experience a variety of activities. It began with a non residential leadership camp for 5 days organised by Leap Africa. I formed part of the 3 groups of participants who all had to work together to complete a project. Each group project was to be focused on bringing awareness to the public about corruption or terrorism using either social media, animation or media( pictures, videos e.t.c).
My group called STBC chose social media as our platform to communicate messages about corruption. STBC stands for 'Small Things Big Changes' it was our way of saying that big things start small.
For instance; People often say that Nigeria is dirty, but we forget that it's us as Nigerians who contribute to the filth. When one person throws a used bottle on the floor, it gives permission to others to follow this bad example; to think that its okay too since there is already some rubbish on the floor. If the pattern continues and no one stands against littering, then soon the whole place is filled with used bottles. So a small act can lead to big changes. In my example, its also possible that if someone does the opposite and stops littering , it can reverse the littering situation.
